Doris J. Kokoski Print E-mail

Doris KokoskiDoris J. Kokoski (nee Lauer), 86, of Elyria, joined the love of her life, Walter, in Heaven on July 12, 2017. Born October 10, 1930 in Johnstown, PA and raised in Ebensburg, PA, as was her husband. Together they moved to Elyria in the early 1950's. After the passing of her husband, Doris worked for the city of Elyria. She was an active member of St. Jude Church, former member of the Elyria United Polish Club and worked as a poll worker judge for many years. She also was the bookkeeper for her husband's construction comopany. Family was the focus of her life. Doris was a great cook and leaves behind her homemade recipes to be treasured for generations. Her food was always made with "hands of love." She was forever making jokes and making you feel special with frequent visits and practical gifts. The yearly birthday songs she sang and the "treats" from the trunk of her car will be dearly missed. When asked how she is doing, Doris would respond, "Hangin in." We laugh when we think, now she is "hangin out" with God and her loved ones in Heaven. She was truly loved by all!

She is survived by her seven children, Walter Byron (Connie) Kokoski of Elyria, Karen Walker of Elyria Twp., Larry (Debby) Kokoski of Elyria, Sheryl (Rick) Cooperider of Elyria Twp., Carl (Jeannie) Kokoski, Alan Kokoski of Amherst and Steven Kokoski of Elyria; sisters Mildred Halvey, Ann Elizabeth (Bill) Radebach, Mary Bettwy, and Vera (Norm) Murphy all of Pennsylvania. "Gran" to 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1985, her parents Merle and Mary Lauer (nee Dishart), two brothers in law, Jack Halvey and Dick Bettwy, and one great nephew, Joel Wirfel.

Special thank you to O'Neill Healthcare of Bay Village and Abbewood in Elyria for their wonderful care of our mother.

Friends may call at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria on Sunday, July 16, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Closing prayer will be held Monday at 10:30am at the funeral home followed by Mass at 11:00am at St. Jude Church in Elyria. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetary in Elyria.

I Knew Doris Through Abbewood and Doris Ann Binggeli. She was the sweetest lady I know besides Doris Ann.She was always very pleasant to me and I did always love her saying That she was just hangin when ever I asked her how she was doing.I truly miss her smile and her comments on various topics,I had hoped to see her again soon but our Lord needed another Angel. My prayers for the family that I had the honor of meeting some of you.Bless you all at this difficult time. She is truly missed.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. We would have liked to attend the visitation but we were out of town on Sunday. We will miss seeing her at Abbewood. We especially will miss her sense of humor. Our mom will miss playing bingo with her and their conversations during meals. She sends her condolences as well. It was ironic that they were \\\"across the street\\\" neighbors again after all those years. Please know that your loss is remembered in our thoughts and prayers.

My blessings and love go out to my Ohio family. Aunt Doris' "make yourself at home" way truly made us feel part of the family...right down to the full course meals for our "midnight" snacks. So many fond memories that will live on forever in our hearts. Love, Karleen and family
