James ChurpekJames E. Churpek, 93 years old, of Elyria, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Ames Family Hospice Center in Westlake, Ohio.

James was born on May 5, 1924 in Lorain, Ohio and made his home in Elyria for the last 56 years. He was a graduate of Clearview High School and served with the United States Army during WWII. He was employed as a lab technician for BF Goodrich and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. James was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife to whom he had been married for 69 years celebrating an anniversary on September 25th of this year. Also surviving are his children, Susan (Charles) Hoyer of Wooster, Judy (Rick) Dotin of Akron, John Churpek of Lorain, and Patty (Shawn) Donaghue of Elyria; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James in 1969; and his parents, Michael and Mary (nee Homak) Churpek.

There will be a funeral mass on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, Ohio at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
