John David Lescher Print E-mail

John David LescherJohn David Lescher 44 years old of Avon Lake & formerly of Elyria passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. John was born in Elyria on June 5, 1973 and made his home here prior to moving to Avon Lake. He was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School with the class of 1991 and went on to graduate from Ohio State University in 1996 and then earned a Masters Degree in Business from Tiffin University. He was the Director of Marketing at Invacare before becoming the co-owner of several Jersey Mike's franchises. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Avon Lake.

John played football and ran track at EC. He also participated in Krav Maga. He helped coach his sons' football, baseball, basketball, and LaCrosse teams. He was an auxiliary member of the Grafton VFW and member of the Avon Lake Sons of American Legion. He was an avid OSU football fan who loved attending the games with his family.

But there was so much more to John. He loved and respected his wife Shannan to whom he would have been married 15 years on May 17. He was an amazing father to his two sons and loved them with all of his heart. He would do anything for them. John was a caring, compassionate, and loving son. He treasured the times he could go deer hunting with his father and friends. He stole his mother's heart from the moment he was born. He loved and always tried to protect his sister Mandy. To him, she would always be his "little sister". His friends said that John would light up a room when he walked in. His infectious, beautiful smile was amazing. People were automatically drawn to him. John was a wonderful human being and will be missed so deeply by so many.

Surviving are his wife of almost 15 years, Shannan(nee Taress); two sons, Johnny and Jacob, both at home; a sister Amanda (Alex) Marconi of Silver Lake Ohio; his parents, John and Susan Lescher of Grafton; his in-laws, Bobbi and Jerry Rutherford, and Greg Taress; his brothers' and sisters' in law; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Martin and his paternal grandparents, Howard and Martha Lescher.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, Ohio on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Closing prayers will be in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 9:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Ave, Elyria, Ohio with the Reverend Father Charles Diedrick, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio. The family request memorial contributions to St. Mary School in Elyria or St. Joesph School in Avon Lake.

The Lescher/Taress families thank everyone for the multitude of prayers and support that they have shown.

My first exposure to John was the morning after Shannan had met him for the first time. All she did was bounce arund the house and talk about this awesome guy she met. Obviously, he felt he same about her. John immediately imprinted himself on my heart. I thought he was prince charming come to life. He was. I have been blessed with the joy of having John for a son-in-law and love him as if he was my own son. His passing has left a huge hole in my heart. I will always love you John, thank you for being part of my life.

My deepest sympathies are with your family. John and I didn't run in the same circles, but we went through 12 years of school together, from St. Mary's to EC and he was a great guy. After just recently losing my own older brother, I know hoe much pain you must be feeling right now, but God will help you through it, as he is helping me. Honor his memory by trying to remember all the good times you shared.

I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\'ve known Johnny since the day he as born. His parents and I have been good friends for half a century. I was absolutely devastated when I got the call from John and Sue. One time, when I was presenting John with and award at a Holy Name gathering, he was the average kid who always go beyond everyones expectations whether it was in sports or being kind to the elderly. Johnny, we will miss you tremendously and memories of Johnny will live in our hearts forever. Our prayers go out to the family.

Even though we never met John, we feel we know him through you Sue, as you always so lovingly & proudly shared your family stories with us ever since Bradley & Emily were students of yours at St. Judes. We pray that your deep well of love and faith will help you and his family cope and in time, heal the hole that is now in your hearts. All our love- Janet, Ken, Brad & Emily Hetrick

I was standing a few feet from John when that picture of him was taken at our house at Ohio State. It doesn't seem all that long ago, yet there is still so many years I thought there would be to have. John, I do and will miss you, pray daily for you and for your wife and boys. Rest in peace phi. I am so very sorry to hear of John's passing. I will always remember John as a funny, caring and God fearing man with a passion only known to those saved by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I remember when John and I were on a joint trip and my Wisconsin Badgers were playing "THE" Ohio State Buckeys and we placed a $20 bet. The banter that exchanged between us was memorable and we shared a beer with the $20 offering after the game. I will be blessed with fond memories of John for the rest of my life and I hope that John may find the peace he was missing late in his life. May the Lord be with his wife and son's and his memory last with them of a loving father and husband. Dino

I am so heartbroken to hear of John's passing. We worked together at Invacare years ago and I will never forget how kind and helpful he was. He was also very good at his job and everything he did. I found out he opened up a Jersey Mike's and it just so happens one opened up in Brunswick and we have been eating there almost daily for the past 2 weeks. My heart and prayers go out to his wife and children and the rest of his family and loved ones. May you be at peace John. So many will miss you.
